By using a combination of methods, FocusOPEN provides users with search technology that enables them to quickly and easily locate the media files they need. At the core is a fast text search engine that operates in the same way as popular Internet search engines, such as Google and Bing, providing a powerful, yet easy to use keyword search. Further, the text engine is augmented with structured categories (folders), that permit users to browse for, as well as search for media files, as they would their local or shared drives. Sector, industry or organisation specific 'tags' can be added to media files to provide users with search controls that reflect corporate culture and structure, helping them to operate the system with minimal effort and expertise.
FocusOPEN will handle most common media types, including: photos, video, audio and print artwork. A powerful dedicated Asset Processing Server (APS) will auto-generate thumbnails and previews for most supported media types including bandwidth intensive media like high definition (HD) video or high resolution artwork. Industry standard formats for proxy files, such as H.264, FLV, JPEG and PDF ensure that users can always preview media prior to download. The processing server features a scalable plug-in based architecture to allow new formats or updated processing technologies. Multiple APS instances can be chained together for very large scale media processing in demanding production environments.
FocusOPEN is multi-brand and multi-domain capable. Each brand can have its own styling (logo, images, colours), a unique domain name (rather than a sub-domain), different metadata, terminology and home page. All assets and users from one brand are separated from those in other brands, so end users need never be aware that the system is shared. Perfect for 'house of brands' marketing operations or creative agencies who wish to provide DAM services to their clients at a cost-effective price.
FocusOPEN has been built with ease-of-use at the forefront of our engineering process. Our user interfaces are designed to be intuitive and utilise GUI models that users are already familiar with. Further, FocusOPEN has a comprehensive and context-sensitive help system that will guide even the most novice user through key tasks and system functions.
As FocusOPEN is built on Microsoft technologies, the system can be rapidly integrated with Active Directory to provide single sign-on services to the entire organisation. FocusOPEN also simultaneously supports access from approved external users who do not have internal network access (integration with LDAP is also available).
FocusOPEN’s flexible media and metadata management tools means that media files can be hidden or shown to certain users, can be displayed with or without a watermark (includes video) and can be restricted from download or flagged for approval before publication. Likewise, administrators can revise and add metadata fields to media files with far greater ease and control, ensuring that media is catalogued, presented and made available to users exactly as the business requires.
Our efficient standards-compliant digital asset cataloguing features ensure that administrators are able to easily and quickly catalogue media, yet still produce the comprehensive metadata needed for fast and accurate search results. Streamlining features include: Asset cross-referencing, metadata templating, scheduled and bulk uploading and metadata auto-generation.
To better protect copyright and reduce the risk of licence breach or brand misuse, FocusOPEN's rights management features enable administrators to control media use - protecting against unauthorised downloads, applying watermarks or suppressing media previews and files for select user groups on a per asset basis. Furthermore, publications and expiry features help maintain a relevant and up-to-date resource as ingested media can be scheduled to become available to or expire from the system on set dates, such as a major product launch or brand review.
Media workflows can be used by both internal and external team members to contribute to the production and administration of media. For example, workflows can assist staff to collaborate with external suppliers on the creation of artwork or can be used to assist teams in disparate geographical locations to catalogue media more effectively. Other workflow features include usage approval to enable multiple stakeholders to discuss restricted asset use.
Reporting features enables administrators to rapidly generate reports on media and system usage, such as login and registration statistics, media download statistics and user audit trails. This information assists administrators to troubleshoot and assess need for media or system features into the future.
