The Commercial Edition of FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager ™ provides a number of benefits for businesses that are not available with the Open Source (AGPL) Edition.
The Commercial Edition licence has two key differences from the Open Source (AGPL) Edition licence. These are:
The Commercial Edition therefore provides a white-label DAM system that can be branded and engineered for commercial use. In combination with multi-brand features and no licensing restrictions on the numbers of system users, assets and brands, the Commercial Edition is perfect for large-scale 'house of brands' marketing operations or agencies who manage multiple digital media repositories on behalf of their clients.
The Commercial Edition can be purchased in two different ways with various complimentary services available via each. These are:
Available to download and can be installed on your own server. This offer also includes:
(1) Server Deployment: Up to four (4) hours will be allocated for an approved FocusOPEN engineer to deploy the software to your chosen hosting facility without additional cost. We cannot guarantee that the system will be operational after this time. The engineer will assess your environment before commencing installation and if he/she does not deem it meets the system requirements, you will be informed of the issues and given the option to make modifications to the environment or arrange an alternative hosting facility. This assessment will constitute one (1) hour of your allocated deployment time. All deployment will take place remotely (not on-site) and you must ensure you have a VPN or other remote access capability to enable access to your server. If after the allocated time period the system has not been deployed, you may either attempt to complete deployment yourself, or additional time will be charged on a consulting basis at our standard hourly rate of 75 UK pounds (or the equivalent in your local currency).
(2) Twelve (12) Months Product Upgrades: The Commercial Edition (install version) provides users with a subscription to product upgrades, made available via downloadable source code and deployment packs that are released for a period of one (1) year following system installation. On subscription expiry, users can either re-subscribe to continue receiving product upgrades or can elect to use the last version of the software available to them before their subscription expired, without additional licence costs.
(3) Complimentary Advanced User Guide: No warranty express or implied is offered with the advanced user guide and any modifications or instructions recommended are carried out at your own risk. Daydream accepts no responsibility for data or consequential loss resulting from your use of FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager or the Advanced User Guide.
See Purchasing Options for further information on the install version.
Available as a service, which provides software, hosting and support via flexible monthly or annual payment plans.
This offer also includes:
(1) Set Up: Up to four (4) hours will be allocated for an approved FocusOPEN engineer to configure the software on the service plan of your choice (Bronze, Silver or Gold). Set-up tasks include: software installation, domain configuration and attribution removal only. No further system configuration or bespoke engineering tasks are included in the offer.
(2) Product Upgrades: The Commercial Edition (On Demand) provides users with product upgrades made immediately available via the system following release, for the duration of the service plan. No downloadable source code or deployment packs are offered with On Demand service plans.
(3) Complimentary Admin & User Guide: No warranty express or implied is offered with the admin and user guide and any instructions or modifications recommended are carried out at your own risk. Daydream accepts no responsibility for data or consequential loss resulting from your use of FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager or the Admin & User Guide.

Yes. The Commercial Edition of FocusOPEN provides an option to 'white label' the system and permission to remove or suppress the attribution on all system interfaces. This can be done quickly and easily, without programming or technical knowledge, via the FocusOPEN administration system. Please note: The attribution can only be removed or suppressed on the Commercial Edition. Removal or suppression of the attribution on the Open Source (AGPL) Edition is a wilful violation of the licence terms for this product that may leave you liable for prosecution. For further information regarding Open Source (AGPL) Edition licence restrictions, see AGPL FAQs.
No. The presence of the attribution ('Powered By FocusOPEN' logo and links) is a requirement of the Open Source (AGPL) licence and this attribution must be retained on all system interfaces. Removal or suppression of the attribution on the Open Source (AGPL) Edition is a wilful violation of the licence terms for this product that may leave you liable for prosecution. For further information regarding Open Source (AGPL) Edition licence restrictions, see AGPL FAQs.
See Pricing for the latest pricing information and special offers.
No. A downloadable free trial is not provided for the Commercial Edition. Please use the Open Source (AGPL) Edition to trial and make a purchase decision. You can download the latest source and deployment packs for the Open Source (AGPL) Edition or take a tour of FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager ™.
You can hire the Commercial Edition as a service by the month or year by taking up one of our On Demand plans (but no downloadable source code or deployment packs are offered with On Demand service plans.) See On Demand for more information.
There are two ways to purchase the Commercial Edition.
Install Version: The Commercial Edition (install version) provides users with a 12 month subscription to product upgrades that are made available via downloadable source code and deployment packs. On subscription expiry, users can either re-subscribe to continue receiving product upgrades or can elect to use the last version of the software available to them before their subscription expired, without additional licence cost.
On Demand: The Commercial Edition (On Demand) provides users with product upgrades made available immediately via the system on release, for the duration of the service plan. No downloadable source code or deployment packs are offered with On Demand service plans. See On Demand for more information.
An unlimited number of users may use the Commercial Edition. None of the current editions of FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager ™ (Commercial or Open Source AGPL) have per-seat charges.
You can install the Commercial Edition onto one production facility per licence purchased. A production facility is used to provide DAM services to you or your clients and can also include any clustered or failover web, database or asset processing servers which are used to serve a single instance of the FocusOPEN application.
Example: You host a single instance of the FocusOPEN application that contains five different brands under five different domain names. The application is hosted on a web server but you also operate a failover host, which is used in the event of an outage. The instance is replicated on the failover host, but is only in use when the primary host fails. Number of licences required: One, because there is just one instance of the system in use at any given time.
Example: You host two instances of the FocusOPEN application on two web servers. The first instance contains a single brand under a single domain name and has a failover host. The second instance contains four different brands under four different domain names and has no failover host. Number of licences required: Two, because the second instance is not a replica of the first used for failover/redundancy, but is a unique instance used to provide DAM services to you or your clients.
In summary, if an instance of the FocusOPEN application is an exact replica of another and is used solely for failover/redundancy, then only one licence is required. If, however, both instances are unique and are used to provide DAM services to you or your clients, then two licences are required.
Yes. You are permitted to install the Commercial Edition onto one development/staging server per licence purchased. The instance of the FocusOPEN application installed on the development/staging server must be used solely for development purposes. It must not be used to provide DAM services to your or your clients as this would constitute a breach of the Commercial licence and may leave you liable for prosecution.
Please note: The Open Source (AGPL) Edition has no restrictions on the number of servers it can be installed on. If you require more than one instance of the FocusOPEN application for development/staging purposes, we recommend that you use the Open Source (AGPL) Edition to increase capacity.
No. As FocusOPEN Digital Asset Manager ™ provides multi-brand/multi-domain features within a single instance of the software, there is no need to purchase multiple licences. Additional licences are only required to be purchased if additional instances of the software are installed that are used to deliver DAM services to you or your clients (see Failover/Redundancy Use and Staging/Development Use for permitted exceptions).
There are two ways to purchase the Commercial Edition. Install version users receive full access to the source code and a subscription to product upgrades for a period of 12 months. There is no source code access for On Demand service users.
No. Unlike the Open Source (AGPL) Edition, the Commercial licence permits you to retain any modifications made to the source code and does not require you to contribute them back to the community. Further, any extensions or components authored under the terms of the Commercial licence can be resold via our FocusOPEN Reseller Programme. Please contact us to discuss becoming a FocusOPEN reseller.
